How Anxiety Impacts Today’s Students

From Kindergarten to College, students at every level face anxiety, leading to other mental health issues either immediately or later on. Often, and by the time students reach the high school level, they have already approached burnout from the pressures of succeeding early on.

The Epidemic of Anxiety Among Today’s Students

Understanding the pressures our students face is more necessary than ever. As the level of anxiety increases, so does the possibility of their mental health declining, therefore affecting mood, health, and academic performance.

Is Your Child Struggling With Anxiety?

With children facing anxiety now more than ever, it is important to know the signs of anxiety and mental health issues in children. Children with learning disabilities, in particular, may be more likely to experience anxiety at an expedited rate in comparison to their peers.

From behavioral to physical or emotional signs, knowing what anxiety looks like in your child can help you better equip yourself to respond.

If you suspect that your child may be overwhelmed or experiencing anxiety, reference these signs.

Learning Disabilities in Young Children

According to the U.S. Department of Education, it is estimated that more than 13% of public education students aged 3 to 21 have some kind of learning disability and without recognition of the challenges those students are much less likely to succeed.

Children experiencing learning disabilities may be more susceptible to anxiety and depression. Academic testing allows parents, teachers, students, and counselors to better understand the child’s strengths and weaknesses, giving them the opportunity to move forward.
